Answer:

The sum of the number = 95

If one = other+ 15

Find the numbers

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the 1st number be n

Then the 2nd = n+15

As given,

n + (n+15) = 95

n + n + 15 = 95

2n = 95-15

2n = 80

n = 80/2

n = 40

1st number = n = 40

2nd number =(n+15) = (40+15) = 55

Thus the numbers are 40 and 55 which when added is 95........

GIVEN :-

• The sum of two numbers is 95 and If one exceeds the other by 15.

TO FIND:-

THE TWO UNKNOWN NUMBERS

METHOD USED:-

PROPERTY OF LINEAR VARIABLE TO SOLVE VARIABLE ( SAY X AND Y )

SOLUTION:-

LET THE TWO NUMBER BE X AND Y

THEN ACCORDING TO THE QUESTION

X + Y = 95............(1)

IF X > Y

THEN X = 15 + Y............(2)

SUBSTITUTING THE VALUE OF X IN 1,

15 + Y + Y = 95

15 + 2Y = 95

2Y = 80

Y = 40

AND SO , X = 15 + 40

X = 55
