The sum if two rational numbers is 2/9 if one of them is 1/3 we have to find the other .

Let the second rational number be x .

  • \sf\implies\::\dfrac{1}{3}\:+\:x\:=\:\dfrac{2}{9}

  • \sf\implies\::\:x\:=\:\dfrac{2}{9}\:-\:\dfrac{1}{3}

  • Take the lcm that is 9

  • \sf\implies\::\:x\:=\:\dfrac{2\:-\:3}{9}

  • \sf\implies\:x\:=\:\dfrac{-\:1}{9}

Therefore the second rational number is -1/9
