R + ( -11/6 ) = -5

or, R = - 5 - ( -11/6 )

or, R = -5 + 11/6

or, R = ( - 5x6 + 11 )/6

Given : The sum of two rational numbers is -5 and  one of them is - 11/6

To find : Other rational number

Solution:

One rational number is  -11/6

let say another ration number is  A

Sum of two rational number  = - 5

=>   -11/6  + A   =  - 5

Adding both sides 11/6

=> -11/6 + A + 11/6  = - 5  + 11/6

=> A  =  -30/6  + 11/6

=> A =  (-30 + 11)/6

=> A = -19/6

other rational number is  -19/6
