The sum of two twin primes is 60. Find the two prime numbers.​

Answer:

let the two primes are x and y

so x+y=60

x=60-y

place the value of x in the equation

60-y+y=60

60-2y=60

-2y=60-60

-2y=0

y=0

now place the value of y in the equation to find the accurate value of x

x+0=60

x=60-0=60

x=60 and y=0

Basically the term twin prime means that it is 2 more than that prime number or 2 less than that prime number.

So, let us consider that particular prime number to be “k”

So , if I’ll consider k+2 as it’s twin prime , according to the question we now have,

= k+k+2=60 ( Since they asked sum)

=2k=58

=k=29

Ultimately we get k+2 as = 31

Vice-versa is also possible k-2 and k will also give the same answer

So, the numbers are 29 and 31 respectively.
