the sume of two numbers is -138. their difference is -2. find the numbers.

Let the numbers be x and y

x + y = -138 ---- (1)

x - y = -2 --------(2)

Adding (1) and (2)

2x = -138 + (-2)

2x = -138 -2

2x = -140

x = -140/2

x = -70

substitute the value of x in (1)

-70 + y = -138

y = -138 + 70

y = -68

The numbers are -70 and -68
