Summary:

The overall meaning of the poem about love, the poem is talking about love and what it does to a person. The brook in the person's heart, is the love someone feels for another. The poem has a 'happy' feel, since it is about something as beautiful as love. The poem is directly speaking to the reader and in third stanza the love begins to go away, when Emily begins to write about those without the little brook in their heart, having the brook that has gone dry.
