Earth rotates or spins toward the east, and that's why the Sun, Moon, planets, and stars all rise in the east and make their way westward across the sky.

The main reason why the "Sun always rises in the east” is that the earth spins or rotates to its east and thus all the planets, Sun, Moon, and Stars rises from east direction. After rising from the East direction, these all (including Sun) makes their ways westward over the sky. Therefore, as the earth spins and not the stars, so the rise of the sun from the west will only occur when the earth begins rotating backwards.
