Answer:

the supplement of an angle measures 25 degrees more than twice its complement. Find the measure of the angle.

My work: 180-x= 2(90-x)

180-x= 180-2x

180+x=180

x=1 BUT, x is suppposed to be equal to 25 inthe answer key.

The required angle is 155°

Given:

The supplement of an angle measures 25°

To find:

The measure of an angle whose supplement angle is 25°

Solution:

Supplementary angles:

The pair of angles are Supplementary angles if the sum of the angle is equals to a linear angle or 180 degrees.

For Example, 80° and 100° ⇒ 80°+ 100° = 180°

                       90° and 90° ⇒ 90° + 90° = 180°

                       120° and 60° ⇒ 120° + 60° = 180°  ... etc.

The Supplement angle of an angle A = (180 - A)

Let B be the angle and 25° is the supplement of B

⇒ (180°-B) = 25°

⇒ B = 180° - 25°

⇒ B = 155°

The required angle is 155°
