Given :
- Surface area of a solid metallic sphere is 616 cm²
- Sphere was melted and recast into a cone, with height 28 cm.
To Find :
- The diameter of the base of the cone.
Formula used :
- Surface area of cone = 4πr²
Let the radius of cone be ' r '
→ Surface area of cone is also 616 cm².
So,
→ 616 × 7 = 88r²
→ 4312 = 88r²
→
→ r² = 49
→ r = √49
∴ r = 7 cm
Now,
→ Volume of solid metallic sphere =
→ Volume of cone =
→ Volume of sphere = volume of cone
So,
→
→
→
→ R = √49
∴ R = 7 cm
Therefore,
Diameter of cone = 7 × 2 = 14 cm
Answer : The diameter of the base of the cone is 14 cm
