To find :

  • we need to find the linear equation for the given information.

Solution :

Let the Total distance covered be x km

Let the Total fare be Rs y

Fare for first kilometre is Rs 8 and for the subsequent distance it is 5 per km.

As the total distance covered is x km and fare for first km is given.

Then Subsequent distance is (x - 1)km

Fare for subsequent distance :-

= 5(x - 1)

= 5x - 5

  • Total fare y

⇝ y = 8 + 5x - 5

⇝ y = 5x + 3

So,

  • Option A) is correct ✓

Let,

The Distance Covered as x km.

The Total Fare be y.

We know that,

Fare for the first 8 kilometres = ₹8.

Remaining distance = (x-1) km.

So, Fare for the rest of the distance :-

₹5 × Remaining Distance = ₹5(x-1).

Now, Total fare :-

Fare for First Kilometre + Fare for rest kilometres.

Put the values.

➠ y = ₹8 + 5(x-1)

➠ y = 8 + 5x - 5

➠ y = 5x + 3.

Hence, Your Answer is Option [A].
