A procedure of reviewing is called Management by exception and it is the practice of examining the financial and operational activity of business activity, and also the only bringing issues to bring the attention of management if results obtained show substantial differences from the budget or expected amount.

The term was first adopted and used by Peter Drucker in his book published in 1954, ‘ The Practice of Management’.
