terminating decimal is a decimal, that has an end digit. It is a decimal, which has a finite number of digits(or terms). Example: 0.15, 0.86, etc. Non-terminating decimals are the one that does not have an end term. It has an infinite number of terms.

Decimal expansion can be of two types :
a) Terminating i.e. of the type 2.45 or 3.679 (which stops after some point)
b) Non-terminating i.e. which is going on
Non terminating can be further divided into two parts
(1) Repeating : which repeats itself after certain point ( we use bar over the digits for this). Examples : 2.454545.... , 3.4939393...

(2) Non repeating : which does not repeat.
Examples : 1010010001...
So terminating and non- terminating repeating are rational numbers
And non-terminating non-repeating are irrational numbers
