To them, language was as natural as a pigeon's cry. Extorting them  and forcing them to speak German would be  difficult as well as nearly impossible.  

• People find it difficult  to accept the language imposed on them. French was their mother tongue and they felt comfortable speaking French as their mother tongue. Switching to another language will not be easy.
