QUESTION

the three bells ring together at 1 O'clock . if they ring at an interval of 12, 18 and 20 minutes, at what time they will ring together next?

SOLUTION

the three bells ring at interval of 12 , 18 and 20 minutes

so finding the LCM of 12 , 18, 20

12 = 2*2*3=2^{2} *3\\\\18=2 * 3*3=2*3^{2} \\\\20 = 2 *2*5=2^{2}*10

LCM(12,18,20) = 2^{2}*3^{2} *5 = 180

it means three bells will ring together after 180 minutes

OR we can say they will ring together after 3 hours

SO THE THREE BELLS WILL RING TOGETHER NEXT AT 4 O'clock.
