the earth consists of three layers the crust the mental and the core the innermost layer is rich in Iron and very dense it can be further subdivided into the inner and Outer core most of the mental in a thick fluid that moves in currents but the very outermost position of the outer mental in a solid

The crust is uppermost layer of the earth
the thickness of the three layer forming just 1%of the earth volume. It is made of the mineral silica iron and magnesium and is therefore called sima.
