the total cost of 6 pens and 4 pencils is rupees 60 is. the total cost of 4 pens and 6 pencil is rupees 40 if so find the price of a pen and pencil​

Solution :-

Let cost of 1 pen is Rs. P and cost of pencil is Rs. C .

So,

→ 6P + 4C = 60 ---------- Eqn.(1)

→ 4P + 6C = 40 --------- Eqn.(2)

adding Eqn.(1) and Eqn.(2) we get,

→ (6P + 4C) + (4P + 6C) = 60 + 40

→ 6P + 4P + 4C + 6C = 100

→ 10P + 10C = 100

→ 10(P + C) = 100

→ P + C = Rs. 10 (Ans.)

therefore, the price of a pen and pencil is equal to Rs. 10 .
