Hi friend
-------------
Your answer
-------------------

COST OF FLOORING PER SQ. METRE = RS 85

TOTAL EXPENDITURE = RS 5100

THUS,
AREA OF THE ROOM = TOTAL EXPENDITURE / RATE PER SQUARE METRE
= 5100/85 m²
= 60m²

NOW,
--------

LENGTH OF THE ROOM = 8 m

SO,
------

LENGTH × BREADTH = 60
8× BREADTH = 60
BREADTH = 60/8m
BREADTH = 7.5m

Breadth of room is 7.5 meters.

Given:

  • The total cost of flooring a room at rupees 85 per square metre is rupees 5100.
  • If the length of the room is 8 metre.

To find:

  • Find its breadth.

Solution:

Formula to be used:

Area of floor(rectangle)= length×breadth

Step 1:

Find total area of floor.

As,

For every m² 85 rupees were charged.

So,

Area of floor  =  \frac{5100}{85}  \\

or

Area of floor\bf = 60 \:  {m}^{2}  \\

Step 2:

Find breadth of room.

As length of room is 8 m.

So,

8 \times b = 60 \\

or

b =  \frac{60}{8}  \\

or

\bf b = 7.5  \: m \\

Thus,

Breadth of room is 7.5 meters.
