The total mass of 8 identical chairs and 2 identical tables is 20 kilograms. The mass of one table is 4 times the mass of one chair. What is the difference between the mass of a table and a chair?

Answer:

let, mass of one chair = x kg

mass of one table = 4x kg

now, according to question

8x + 2(4x) = 20

8x + 8x = 20

16x = 20

x = 20/16

= 1.25kg

now, 4x= 1.25× 4

=5

so, the difference between the mass of a table and a chair= 5-1.25

=3.75kg
