So,based on filling of shells 1st shell i.e K shell can have atmost 2 electrons and 2nd shell i.e L shell can have atmost 8 electrons which is based on the formula 2n^2

So it's electronic configuration would be (2,5)

Valence electron means electrons in valence shell i.e last shell.So,Nitrogen atom has 5 valence electrons.
