Let the number of lion be x and number of peacock be y.

Lion has 4 legs and peacock has 2 legs.

So,

x+y=50----------------------(1)

4x+2y=140----------------(2)

Multiply equation (1) with 2.

2x+2y=100---------------(3)

Subtract equation (3) with (1)

2x=40

x=20

y=50-20=30

So, number of lion is 20 and number of peacock is 30.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:Given information,

Total No. of Lions and peacocks = 50

Total No. of Legs of Lion and Peacocks = 140

To find: Number of Lions and Peacock and Lions in Zoo

-------- ------- ------------- -----------

Let

Total number of Lions = x

Total number of peacocks = y

By first condition,

x + y = 50 -------- (i)

By second condition,

As we know that,

Lion has 4 legs and peacock has 2

Therefore, 4x + 2y = 140

Dividing 4x + 2y = 140 by 2,

=> 2x + y = 70 ------ (ii)

From equation (i) and (ii)

x + y = 50

2x + y = 70

_____________

3x = 120

x = 120/3

x = 20

Therefore, Total number of Lions in zoo are 20

And, Number of peacocks in zoo = (50-x)

                                                        = 30

Therefore, Total number of peacocks = 30
