the total surface area of a cuboid is 40 metre square and its lateral surface area is 26 metre square find area of the floor​

ANSWER :

TSA = 2lb + 2bh + 2hl

LSA = 2hl + 2bh

TSA - LSA = 2lb + 2bh + 2hl - (2hl + 2bh)

=> 2lb + 2bh + 2hl - 2hl - 2bh

=> TSA - LSA = 2lb...... (1)

But given that TSA = 40 m^2 and LSA = 26 m^2

Therefore, TSA - LSA = 40 m^2- 26 m^2 = 14 m^2

But TSA - LSA = 2lb (From 1)

=> 14 m^2 = 2lb

=> lb = 14 / 2 = 7 m^2

=> lb = 7 m^2

Therefore, area of floor is 7m^2
