According to geometry, CSA of a cylinder is given as 2πrh. Area of bases is actually area of circles with radius 'r'

⇒ Area of Bases = 2 × πr²  as 2 circles are there.

Therefore TSA of Cylinder = 2πr² + 2πrh = 2πr ( h + r )
