“The tribe in Andaman & Nicobar island has discovered a new species of Rosaceae
family (rose family) but they refuse to disclose the details of their discovery to the
scientists and address the plant by its local name when they come to Delhi to sell the
flowers. It has many medicinal values which are unique to this plant which are only
known to regular customers and the local people of the island. No proper documentation of the characteristic of the plant has been made. It has evolved due to a cross breeding between two rose species locally known as “Baro Gulab” and “Dog rose”.
Scientific names of these two plants are also not known so the botanists of Delhi are worried that if the locals do not disclose information about the plants indigenous to the island, to the scientific community then the plants may not be reared or conserved in labs incase its habitat is destroyed. Earlier also we have lost many newly evolved variety of plants due to lack of proper information about their characteristics, formation, importance and habitat during Tsunami which nearly destroyed the island. But the inhabitants of the island feel that by hiding the information they are protecting the wealth of the island from invasion of the modern people who they feel will come and rob the island of its natural treasures.”

Analyze and reflect on this passage and discuss the implications of such activities on
the society, highlighting the importance of binomial nomenclature in this regard.

Answer:

binomial nomenclature is important I completely agree with that but the fear of tribal group is also true bcz modern man is so greedy and cunning about thing he will eventually won't think even for a bit to use it for selfness and exploit it.

still government authorities should look on the matter
