The two atria are completely separated from
each other by a thin vertical inter-auricular
septum. Sinus venosus opens into the right
atrium through the sinu-atrial aperture. It is
guarded by a pair of valves. The common
pulmonary vein opens into left atrium by a small
nonvalvular opening. Both atria open into single
ventricle by a common large atrio-ventricular
aperture guarded by two pairs of atrio-
ventricular valves.
