Therefore using Pythagoras theorem

Base^2 + Perpendicular ^2 = Hypotenuse ^2

5^2+12^2 = H^2

25+144=H^2

169=H^2

Therefore H=√169

H=13cm

Now area of a right angles triangle is 1/2* base* height

1/2*5*12

=30cm^2 is the area
