100
Let us suppose the value of the machine an year ago=x.
It's 10% will be x*10%=x/10
If we analyze the question we can say that
X-X/10=35100
9X=351000
X=35100/9
Therefore X= Rs. 39000

Answer:

The value of the machine a year ago was Rs.39000

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the value of the machine a year ago be x. Given that 10% of machine’s value depreciates every year.

Thus, 10% of x =\frac{10}{100} x=\frac{x}{10}

According to the given data, 10% is depreciated from machine’s value every year.

\therefore x-\frac{x}{10} = Present value.

x-\frac{x}{10}=Rs.35100

By taking LCM, we get,

\frac{10 x-x}{10}  =Rs.35100

\frac{9 x}{10} =Rs.35100

We need only the value of x, so shift the other terms to the right hand side.

x=\frac{35100 \times 10}{9}

\therefore x=Rs.39000

Thus, the value of the machine a year ago was Rs.39000
