the value of a machine depriciated by 10% per year during the first two years and 15% per year during the third year. express the total depriciation of the machine as percent during the three years

Let the value (Principal) of the machine (P) = Rs100

Rate of depreciation for the first year (R) =10%

∴ Value of machine at the end of first year

= Rs( 100-100x10/100)

=Rs (100 - 10)

=Rs = 90

Rate of depreciation for the second year =10

∴ Value of machine at the end of second year=

=rs(90-90x10/100)

=Rs (90 - 9)

= Rs 81

Rate of depreciation for the third year =15%

∴ Value of machine at the end of third year

=rs (81-81x15/100)

=rs (81-1215/100)

=rs (81.00 -12.15)= rs 68.85

Total depreciation

= Rs (100.00− 68.85 )= Rs 31.15

Percentage of depreciation

= 31.15 x 100/100 % = 31.15%
