when a car covers the distance of 3 m and comes back to its position covering the distance of 3m again then the car doesn't displaced from its actual position [3m - 3m ( coming back to is actual position) = 0 ] So the displacement of the car will be zero.

If the final and initial point is same or if the object is moving in a straight line, then the displacement can be zero.
for example: an object starts moving from point A and stops at point A ,so the displacement will be zero as the shortest distance covered between final and initial point is displacement, here final and initial point is same.
