Orbital Velocity

  • Velocity required for an object to continue orbiting around the earth

  • This velocity has to be maintained so that the object doesn't collide with earth

Mathematically,it is given by :

 \large{ \sf{v =  \sqrt{2gh} }}

Here,

  • h is the radius of earth

  • g is the acceleration due to gravity on earth

Substituting the values,we get :

  \large{ \hookrightarrow \sf{v =  \sqrt{2 \times 10 \times 6.37 \times  {10}^{6} } }} \\  \\  \huge{ \hookrightarrow \:   \boxed{ \boxed{\sf{v = 11.2 \: km {s}^{ - 1} }}}}

Thus,the orbital velocity near the surface of earth is 11.2 Km/s

Option (A) is correct
