molecular weight of volatile chloride = 2*95
                                                         = 190
formula of chloride = MClx
approx weight of M = 6.4/0.13
                               = 49.23
formula of MClx = 49.23 + x * 35.5
                          = 190
      x = 140.77/35.5
         = 3.96
         = 4
∴ equivalent weight or mass = 49.23/4 = 12.3

Answer : The molar mass of the metal chloride is 83.5 g/mole.

Explanation :

Equivalent mass of the metal = 24 = \frac{\text{atomic mass}}{x}

\text{Atomic mass of metal}=24x

where, x is number of valence electrons.

Molar mass of MCl_x = 2 × vapor density

24x+x\times 35.5 g/mol=2\times 59.5

x=2

Molar mass of the MCl_2=24x+35.5\times x =48+35.5\times 2 =83.5 g/mol
