SOLUTION

GIVEN

The variable y and x vary directly with each other, when x = 4 , y = 24

TO DETERMINE

The equation which correctly relates x and y

EVALUATION

Here it is given that the variable y and x vary directly with each other,

 \sf{y \propto \: x}

 \implies \sf{y = kx}

Where k is a non zero real number

when x = 4 we have y = 24 gives

24 = 4k

 \implies \sf{k = 6}

Hence the required equation is

 \sf{y = 6x}
