Area under the F-x graph gives the work done by the force in that displacement.

(a) : Work done (from x = -2 m to x=0),

W= − 1/2×10×2=−10 J

(b) : Work done (from x = 0 m to x=2 m),

W= -1/2×10×2=10 J

Answer:-10 joules

Explanation:

From x=−2 mtox= 0m, displacement of the particle is along positive x-direction while force acting on the particle is along negative x-direction. Therefore, work done is negative and given by the area under F-x graph.

∴W=−
