The velocity of a particle under going SHM at
the mean position is 2ms! Find the velocity
of the particle at the point where the displace-
ment from the mean position is equal to half
the amplitude.
1) 1.234ms-1
2) 1.732ms-1
3) 2.732ms-1
4) 1.414ms-1

Answer: 1.732m/s

Explanation: x=asinwt

At mean position displacement is zero then

0=asinwt

sinwt=0

wt=0. And velocity=aw=2m/s

when displacement is half of amplitude then sinwt=sin30

v=awcos30

V=(2×√3)/2

V=√3 m/s

V=1.732m/s
