The velocity of any moving object, in ordinary situations, does not always remain constant. For example, a train gains velocity while leaving a station and loses velocity while approaching a station. Similarly, when a ball is dropped from a certain height, its velocity goes on increasing as it comes to the ground. But if a ball is thrown upward its velocity goes on decreasing , till it becomes zero and then its velocity starts increasing as it approaches the ground.
