This is quite an issue in the insurance domain. Salemen tend to sell all sorts of insurance products both to businesses and individuals whether they need it or not.  I have heard of cases where 70 year old men (with their children well settled) were sold life insurance policies. Thus, it is very important to assess the relevance of insurance products being sold. IRDA in India has made some progress in this. For instance, they specifically require the insured to sign off that all the terms and conditions of the policy were explained to them by the agent.
