At NTP, normal temperature and pressure .
Temperature, T = 25°C = 298K
pressure, P = 1atm
given, weight of CO2 = 4.4g
molecular weight of CO2 = 12 + 2 × 16 = 44g/mol
number of mole of CO2, n = 4.4/44 = 0.1
we know, PV = nRT
V = nRT/P = 0.1 × 0.082 × 298/1 = 2.4436L
hence, volume of carbon dioxide at NTP = 2.44L
but when we want to find volume of gas at STP,
use Temperature, T = 0°C = 273K
so, V = nRT/P = 0.1 × 0.082 × 273/1 = 2.2386L
hence, volume of carbon dioxide = 2.24L at STP
