The volume of 50g of a substance is 20 cm³. If the density of water is 1g/cm3,will the substance sink or float when placed on the surface of water ? What will be the mass of water displaced by the substance? [Ans: 20 g]

A) The substance will sink as the density of the substance is greater than the density of the water,i.e. 2.5g/cm³>1 g/cm³
B) According to the Archimedes principle the mass of the water displaced will be same as the mass of the substance .
