and

total surface area of cylinder =2πr + 2πr² =  2πr(r+h)  

now,

According to given:

height of cylinder = 8 cm

And

volume = 308 cm³

=> πr²h = 308 cm³  

=> r² = 308 / 8π   = 308*7 / 22*8

=> r² = 2156 / 176 = 12.25  

=> r = 3.5 cm

Now,

lateral surface area.

= 2πrh = 2 * 22/7 * 3.5 * 8  

= 176 cm²

and

total surface area  

= 2πr(r+h) = 2* 22/7 *3.5 * (3.5 + 8)

=44/7 * 3.5 * 11.5

= 253 cm² Answer
