γ = Coefficient of Volumetric expansion

V = initial Volume before expansion

ΔV = expansion of Volume = 0.15% of V = 0.0015 V

ΔT = change in temperature = 24 deg

change in Volume is given as

ΔV = V γ ΔT

inserting the values

0.0015 V = V (24) γ

γ = 62.5 x 10⁻⁶

Coefficient of linear expansion is given as

α = γ/3

α = (62.5 x 10⁻⁶)/3

α = 20.83 x 10⁻⁶
