The answer is 2cm

GIVEN

Volume of a metallic cylinder pipe is 1408cm³

Length is 14cm. Radius = 9cm

TO FIND

Its thickness

SOLUTION

The above problem can be simply solved as follows;

Given,

Volume of cylinder = 1408cm³

length = 14cm

Radius = 9 cm

Let the internal radius = r

Formula to calculate volume of cylinder = πr²h

Therefore,

πR²h - πr²h = 148 cm²

Can be written as;

π(R² - r²)h = 148

(22/7) × (9² - r²) × 14 = 148

44 × (81 -r²) = 148

81 -r² = 148/44

81 - r² = 32

-r² = 32 - 81

-r² = -49

Internal radius = 7 cm

Thickness = 9-7 = 2 cm

Hence, The answer is 2cm
