The effect of this development was that neither the Triple Entente nor Central powers were able to make any progress in the war.
Both the Central powers and the Triple Entente made deep Trenches in western front and fought. Though there were heavy causalities on both the sides, the trenches made it nearly impossible for one side to advance. So both the sides were not able to make any progress in the war
