The conversion units are as follows.

1 angstrom = 0.1 nm

We have 589 nm

To get the Angstroms we do divi vision.

589 / 0.1 = 5890Angstroms.

Answer :

5890 Angstroms.

Given: the wavelength of light, λ₁ = 589nm

To Find: wavelength of light in angstrom, λ₂

Solution:

To calculate λ₂, the concept used:

  • The SI unit of length, distance, height, etc is meter i.e. m.
  • It can also be expressed in centimeters (cm), nanometers(nm), millimeters(mm), and angstrom (°A).
  • 1 m = 100cm

        1m = 10⁻⁹nm

        1m = 10⁻¹⁰ °A

And, 1 °A = 0.1 nm

Or,    0.1 nm = 1°A

            1 nm = (1 / 0.1) x1 °A

So,    589nm = (1 / 0.1) x 589

                      = 589 / 0.1

                      = 589 x 10 / 1

        589nm  = 5890 °A

           λ₂ = 5890°A

Hence, its wavelength in angstrom is 5890°A.
