Therefore the value of proportional constant = 0.4.

The weight of a 36 feet iron pipe is 14.4 kg.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given, the weight of an iron pipe varies directly with its length.

i.e w ∝ l             [ w = weight, l = length]

⇒w= kl    [ k is proportional constant]

w = 3.2 kg when l = 8 feet

∴3.2= k×8

⇒k=(3.2÷8)

⇒k=0.4

Therefore the value of proportional constant = 0.4.

∴w = 0.4 l

When l=36 feet

w= 0.4×36

   =14.4 kg

The weight of a 36 feet iron pipe is 14.4 kg.
