The weight of an object is 10N when it is at a distance of 6.4 × 10 6 m from the
center of the earth. What will be its weight if it is taken to a distance of 1.28 ×
10 7 m.

Nice question!!

Thanks For asking!!

Given:-

Mass of earth:-

6 \times {10}^{24} kg6×10

24

kg

Radius of earth:-

6.4 \times {10}^{6} m6.4×10

6

m

Since, the weight of object is 10 N

By using weight formula,

w = m \times gw=m×g

10 = m \times 10m {s}^{ - 1}10=m×10ms

−1

m = 1kgm=1kg

Now the mass of object is 1 kg.

Since ,object is shifted to a distance of

1.28 \times {10}^{7} m1.28×10

7

m

Now,by using gravity formula ,

g = \frac{gm}{{r}^{2} }g=

r

2

gm

putting the values in equation,

g = 6.67 \times {10}^{ - 11} \times 6 \times {10}^{24} \div ( {6.4 \times {10}^{6} })^{2}g=6.67×10

−11

×6×10

24

÷(6.4×10

6

)

2

by further calculation we get,

g = 2.5m {s}^{2}g=2.5ms

2

Now Weight of object is

W=M×g

W=1 × 2.5

W= 2.5 N ans.....
