The weights of new born babies (in kg.) in a hospital on a particular day are as follows:
2.3, 2.2, 2.1, 2.7, 2.6, 3.0, 2.5, 2.9, 2.8, 3.1, 2.5, 2.8, 2.7, 2.9, 2.4
(i) Rearrange the highest weight.
(ii) Determine the highest weight.
(iii) Determine the lowest weight.
(iv) Determine the range.
(v) How many babies were born on that day?
(vi) How many babies weigh below 2.5 kg?
(vii) How many babies weigh more than 2.8 kg?
(viii) How many babies weigh 2.8 kg?

To answer questions based on the weights of new born babies in a hospital on a particular day :

(i) Descending means decreasing from greater to smaller. Therefore, the given weights of babies (in kg) can be rearranged in descending order in the following manner :

3.1 kg,  3.0 kg, 2.9 kg, 2.9 kg, 2.8 kg, 2.8 kg, 2.7 kg, 2.7 kg, 2.6 kg, 2.5 kg, 2.5 kg, 2.4 kg, 2.3 kg, 2.2 kg, 2.1 kg

(ii) The highest weight, as seen from the rearrangement, is 3.1 kg.

(iii) The lowest weight among the given weights is 2.1 kg.

(iv) Range of weight can be given by : Highest weight - Lowest weight

Therefore, range of weight = 3.1 kg - 2.1 kg = 1.0 kg

(v) Number of babies born in the hospital on that day = Total number of weights given in the list

∴  Number of babies born on that particular day = 15 (as 15 weights are given in total)

(vi) Weights that are lower than 2.5 kg in the order = 2.4 kg, 2.3 kg, 2.2 kg, 2.1 kg

∴  Number of babies that weigh below 2.5 kg = 4

(vii) Weights that are greater than 2.8 kg in the order = 2.9 kg, 2.9 kg, 3.0 kg, 3.1 kg

∴ Number of babies that weigh more than 2.8 kg = 4

(viii) From the order, number of babies that weigh 2.8 kg = 2
