the western ghats are rainier than the eastern ghats

The Western Ghats block rain-bearing winds which cause rainfall onthe western slopes. Whereas South-west monsoon moves parallel to theEastern Ghats, which cause less rainfall because in the Eastern Ghatsunable to block moisture-laden winds.
