Western Ghats are covered with thick evergreen forests as it recieves more rainfall compared to the eastern Ghats. The western Ghats recieves orograpic rainfall. Since the westers Ghats is located on the windward side it recieves more rainfall.

Evergreen forest receive rainfall more than 200cms whereas deciduous forest receives only about 70cms to 200cms.this is why western ghats are covered with evergreen forest and western ghats are covered with deciduous forest.

Answer:

Although they receive vast amounts of rain, the evergreen forests of the Western Ghats are not rainforests in the strictest sense. In the tropical rainforests of the Amazon, for example, rain falls steadily and predictably throughout the year
