It is indeed important to be patriotic to our country. If we will be patriotic then we will respect our country and try to work for its betterment which will prove to be profitable for the country itself.
Think of it yourself, if the people of a country are patriotic and think only of the country's betterment, then there would be automatic development where needed. Like there would be less pollution, more trees, less littering,etc.
The benefits are many and profitable for the individual itself who is patriotic.
