The word pollution refers to the introduction of contaminants (pollutants) into the environment, having an adverse effect on it. Pollution is caused mainly due to human induced factors like – industrialization, deforestation, inefficient waste disposal etc. Pollution can be further classified into various categories like – water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, plastic pollution, land pollution, light pollution, radioactive pollution etc. Hence pollution is a phenomenon having adverse effect on our natural resources – water, air etc or on overall environment

The presence of undesirable substances in water which can make the water unfit for use by humans animals in marine life is called water pollution pollution can affect freshwater saltwater and groundwater. it is very harmful for plants animals and humans. Jaundice , gastroenteritis and typhoid a disease caused by drinking polluted water. Water pollution is caused due to both natural and human made factors.

  • natural factors - the natural factors that cause water pollution are storms , soil erosion landslides volcanic eruption and decay and composition of plants and animals.
  • Human made factors - dumping chemical waste from factories into water body. dumping household and municipal waste and untreated sewage into water bodies. etc.
