out side circuit.. electric charge move from negative terminal to the positive terminal.

inside the cell charge move from positive terminal to the negative. So initial position is equal to the final position.

Work done depend on the strength of the force applied.

And Distance through it is applied.

work done = Distance × Force

Work done= 0× Force that applied to flow of charge

So, work done = 0
